RooSense’s SweatID Tech Makes Staying Safe and Hydrated Easy
As an activewear brand, we know how important it is to hydrate. But staying hydrated is just as important. It’s hard to check your own hydration levels during a workout, but what if there was tech that could do it for you?
We’re excited to share Pulse Athletic Apparel has recently partnered with RooSense, a consumer diagnostic company that has developed a wearable sensor that monitors a person’s dehydration and electrolyte imbalances in their bodies.
RooSense’s fabric-based hydration sensor solves one of athletes’ biggest challenges: staving off the negative side effects that come with dehydration like heat exhaustion, heat stroke, seizures, and more.
The disposable sensor, called SweatID, is embedded into compatible fabrics where it collects data from a person’s sweat. The data is then sent to their phone, tablet, or smartwatch and after the data is analyzed, the SweatID technology provides users with a personalized hydration strategy.
Embedding SweatID into compatible fabrics is where we come in. We’re collaborating with RooSense to develop athleticwear for men and women that has this tech built-in. We’re hoping to help make this tech more accessible and bring more awareness to the dangers of dehydration.
“We’ve never seen sweat tech at this level before,” said Pulse Athletic Apparel founder Karishma Bali. “We’re honored that RooSense chose us as a partner. We want everyone to be able to exercise safely.”
The innovative tech recently earned RooSense a Small Business Innovation grant from the National Science Foundation. The SweatID wearable sensor is comfortable and able to handle repeated flexing and bending, all the moves a user might do while exercising.
As the data collected by SweatID becomes more accurate over time, it could help us better understand our bodies and discover more ways to treat it.
